Kerala Covid-19 Tracker: 14 new cases today, total 101 patients under treatment

 

Thiruvananthapuram, May 17: 14 new cases of Covid-19 were confirmed in Kerala today. Four persons from Malappuram district, two each in Palakkad, Kozhikode and Kannur districts, and one each in Kollam, Ernakulam, Thrissur and Kasargod districts are those who have been tested positive with the infection. Two of them have come back from overseas - one each from Kuwait and the UAE. Ten have returned from other States - seven from Tamil Nadu and three from Maharashtra. The patient in Ernakulam district is a native of Uttar Pradesh who came back from the Maldives and the patient in Kollam district is a healthcare worker.

 These details were given by the Minister for Health, Smt K K Shailaja Teacher in a press release. Meanwhile, no patients under treatment for Coronavirus infection have recovered today. Currently, 101 patients are under treatment in different hospitals for Covid-19.

 So far, 60,612 people have arrived in Kerala from abroad and other States - 3,467 through airports, 1,033 through seaports, 1,026 through railway stations and 55,086 through border check-posts.

 As on today, 62,529 persons are under surveillance in different districts across the State with 61,855 quarantined at their homes and 674 under isolation at hospitals. 159 persons were hospitalised today.

 Till now, samples from 45,027 people have been sent for testing and the available results of 43,200 samples are negative. Apart from this, as part of sentinel surveillance of high-risk category consisting of healthcare workers, migrant labourers and those with higher public contacts, 5,009 samples were collected separately and tested. Of these, 4,764 samples have been confirmed with no infection.

 One place in Wayanad district was declared as hotspots today taking the total number of hotspots in Kerala to 23.
