Kerala Covid-19 Tracker: 11 new cases & Four recoveries today, total 123 patients under treatment  

Thiruvananthapuram, April 26: Kerala Minister of Health & Social Justice, Smt K K Shailaja informed that 11 new cases of the Coronavirus infection were confirmed in the State today - six persons from Idukki district and five in Kottayam district. While one person has returned to Kerala from overseas, three have come back from neighbouring states and seven are cases of local transmission. This includes one Doctor in Idukki district and two healthcare workers in Kottayam district.

 At the same time, four patients under treatment for Covid-19 have recovered. One patient each from Thiruvananthapuram, Malappuram, Kannur and Kasargod districts are those who tested negative today. This takes the total number of recovered cases in Kerala to 342 as 123 patients are still under treatment in different hospitals in the State.

 Across various districts, 20,127 persons are still under surveillance with 19,665 under observation at their homes and 462 in isolation wards in hospitals. 99 people were hospitalised today.

 Till now, 22, 954 samples with symptoms have been sent for testing and the results of 21,997 samples have come negative with no infection.

 Today, three new places were further declared as hotspots taking the total number of hotspots in the State to 87. They are Chathannoor and Sasthamkotta in Kollam district and Manarcad in Kottayam district.

 

Chief Minister instructs District officials to ramp up Covid testing

 Chief Minister, Shri Pinarayi Vijayan has directed all District Collectors and District Medical Officers in the State to increase the number of Covid-19 detection tests being done in all districts. The Chief Minister gave this instruction today during a video conference meeting with District Collectors, District Medical Officers and District Police Chiefs to evaluate the Covid preventive measures being conducted across the State.

 “People who don’t have any symptoms should be tested and the government will provide the necessary testing kits for the same. Now all the people under quarantine should also be tested”, he added.
