Kerala Covid-19 Tracker: 49 new cases & 12 recoveries today, total 359 patients under treatment

Thiruvananthapuram, May 25: Minister for Health, Smt K K Shailaja has informed that 49 new cases of Covid-19 were confirmed in Kerala today. 14 persons in Kasargod district, 10 from Kannur district, five each in Thiruvananthapuram and Palakkad districts, four from Kozhikode district, three each in Pathanamthitta and Alappuzha districts, two each from Kollam and Kottayam districts and one in Idukki district are those who tested positive with the infection.

25 of those confirmed with the virus have returned from other States (Maharashtra-17, Tamil Nadu-4, Delhi-1 & Karnataka-2) and 18 have come back from other countries (UAE-13, Oman-2, Saudi Arabia-1, Maldives-1 & Kuwait-1). Six are cases of local transmission including a health worker in Thiruvananthapuram and two remand prisoners in Kannur district.

At the same time, 12 patients under treatment for Coronavirus have tested negative today. Six patients from Kasaragod district, two in Kollam district, and one each from Ernakulam, Idukki, Malappuram and Wayanad districts are those who cured of the infection. So far, 532 patients have recovered from Covid.

The total number of confirmed Covid-19 cases in Kerala is 896 and 359 patients are now under treatment in different hospitals.

There are 99,278 people under quarantine across the State. Of these, 98,486 are under surveillance at their homes or institutional quarantine centres and 792 are isolated in hospitals. 152 persons were hospitalised today.

During the last 24 hours, 1,861 samples were tested. So far, samples from 54,899 people have been sent for testing and the results of 53,704 samples are negative. Apart from this, as part of sentinel surveillance of high-risk group consisting of healthcare workers, migrant labourers and those with higher public exposure, 8,110 samples were tested. Out of these, 7,994 samples have tested negative.

Four new places were declared as hotspots today - one in Kannur district and three in Palakkad district. There are 59 hotspots in the State now.

Till date, 97,247 persons have arrived in Kerala from foreign countries and other States โ€“ 8,390 through airports, 1,621 through the seaport, 4,558 by train and 82,678 through check posts by road.
